Q Do I need a referral from a doctor, or someone else, to see a Wulngah counsellor?

A No. You can contact us direct. (It's okay too, if you want someone to help you contact us)

Q Is it free to use the Wulngah service?

A Yes. Absolutely no charge.

Q Can my partner and I come in to see the counsellor together? Can my whole family talk with the counsellors?

A If that's what you both, or all, want and need, then - Yes, we can arrange that at Wulngah, okay.

Q Do I have to come into the Innisfail office?

A No. The Wulngah counsellors travel out across the Babinda-Innisfail-Tully area (including Jumbun) and all points in between. So, we can arrange with you a safe and confidential place for us to meet that is convenient to you.

Q Will the counsellor tell my family members that I've contacted the Wulngah Program?

A No. The Wulngah Counsellor will talk through with you all about your rights to confidentiality with us. Seeing the drug counsellor is not shameful but it is your private business and we respect your rights.

Q Can I see an Indigenous counsellor?

A Yes. One of the Wulngah counsellor positions must be filled by an Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander – so that you can make that important choice.

Q Can I see a male or a female counsellor?

A Yes. Currently that choice is possible, as there is a male and a female employed as the Wulngah counsellors just now.
